Future Frames is an exhibition that aims to show a new approach to traditional woodworking techniques such as timber framing by minimizing material waste and enabling local production.
In collaboration with Dropcity, North-Germany-based Design Studio Streev has developed a customized wooden shell structure to be fitted in one of the tunnels at Via Sammartini in Milan. The wooden truss system is made by using Studio Streev‘s self-developed CNC machine that makes it possible to manufacture perfectly fitting joints on location.
The essence of the project is about the usage of salvaged wood collected after last year‘s heavy storms in the City of Milan as well as the maximization of material yield, (...)
